Champions League News: Chelsea, To Join The Semi-Finals While Real Put Off Dortmund

Chelsea has made it official, they are now joining the Champions League semi-finals as they win over Paris Saint Germain on Tuesday.

Demba Ba is responsible for securing dramatic away-goals.

Chelsea substitute, Demba Ba brought the ball home in the 87th minute mark of the game to secure a 2-0 win in the quarter final second leg at Stamford Bridge.

It finally sent the London club through after aggregating a 3-3 draw.

The Real Madrid lost their return leg against Dortmund in a 2-0 run. But, Madrid advanced despite Dortmund’s win with a 3-2 aggregate.

Chelsea were behind, 3-1, after their first leg in Paris, but managed their way back into a tie with a first half goal from the substitute Andre Schuerrle.

That was before hitting the crossbar twice in two minutes shortly after restart.

The visitors were bravely hanging on, but were undone in the dying stages when Demba Ba tousled the ball home after a deflected shot into his path by Cesar Azpilicueta.

Marco Reus, Dortmund’s attacking midfielder gave the club hope after scoring twice in the first half.

On the 24th minute, Reus ambushed on a defensive mistake while Angel Di Maria of Real Madrid missed on a penalty before that.

It was thought that the defensive mistake was Dortmund’s opener before doubling the lead on the 37th minute mark of the game from a close range after Robert Lewandowski hit the post.

Dortmund wasn’t able to level the tie in the second half when Henrikh Mkhitaryan rounded Madrid’s keeper, Iker Casillas but only managed to hit the post.

Barcelona visit La Liga rivals Atletico Madrid while Manchester United travels to Bayern Munich in the remaining quarter-final, second leg matches on Wednesday.

Both had a tie level at 1-1.

The semi-finals draw will be held on Friday.
