AFC Cup 2014: Selangor, To Attack At The Beginning Of The Match

Selangor head coach, Mehmet Durakovic is urging his team to attack Hanoi T&T as soon as the referee blows his whistle. Getting vital early goals will amplify the team’s chances of winning the game if this tactic will be used.

The said game is Selangor’s fourth battle with the Vietnamese team in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Cup, Group F that will be held in the city of Shah Alam, Malaysia. Durakovic wants his player to advance in score early on to give the team a good chance of winning and qualifying for the second round of the tournament.

According to Bernama, Durakovic said; “We need to attack from the beginning as we need all three points. It won’t be easy after playing so many matches in a very short period of time but we will try our best.”

The Red Giants’ dilemma does not end in getting the three points at the beginning of the game. The main challenge is their ability to execute the play given their key players Steve Pantelidis, Muhammad Shahrom and Andik Vermansah won’t join their force due to injury.

Durakovic also announced that “K. Gurusamy will also be out for a few months or maybe a year due to knee injury, but hopefully it will not be that bad. We are suffering from a number of injuries but we have to deal with it and hopefully the players will get the job done.

The Red Giants need to step up in the coming game as they desperately need a win. Those three points they needed is crucial for this year’s AFC Cup.

Selangor was only able to get two points from two draw games so far. They also lost from their first three matches against Hanoi T&T two weeks ago.
